Sweater Class - Basic Raglan

Sweater Class - Basic Raglan

The Pattern
After our recent survey, I've discovered that there is interest in a sweater class. We have run something similar previously, but this version will be a bit more structured. We will all be doing the same basic raglan cardigan sweater. The Memories Sweater, by Heidi May, uses basic raglan shaping and seamless construction to make a timeless piece to add to your wardrobe. Knit with a size 7 needle in a worsted weight yarn this sweater should pull together quickly and easily. The pattern is written for a very wide variety of sizes from child's 1/2 all the way to adult 4XL.

The Skills
The sweater employs knit front and back (kfb), make 1 left (m1L), and make 1 right (m1R) for the increases and knit 2 together (k2tog) and slip slip knit (ssk) for the decreases. It is knit from the top down allowing for customization in length of both the body and sleeves. Garter edging around the bottom, cuff, and edging keep the look simple and classic.

The Yarn
This project requires worsted weight yarn such as Ultra Alpaca, Vintage, or Superwash 220. There are other options available, please stop out to the shop to see what we've got!

The Schedule
We will be doing a fairly intensive class schedule to help you through the more complex parts in the beginning. We will start with to classes in one week, one to discuss gauge and the second to start with casting on. The second week will also have two classes to make sure you're still on track. After that the classes will taper to one a week and then a break before the end technique. This should give you a cardigan in 10 weeks!
