Beginner Quilter



Learn the basics of making a quilt from fabric selection, cutting, piecing, and borders to quilting and binding.

In this class you will:
 1.Learn about fabric and pattern selection.
 2.Cut fabric using a rolling cutter and cutting mat.
3.Accurately piece a quilt.
4.Correctly apply borders.
  5.“Sandwich” a quilt and prepare it for quilting.
  6. Learn about different methods of quilting.
7. Bind a quilt

You will need:
1. A sewing machine that does a straight stitch
2. Rotary cutter
3. Acrylic Ruler (24" x 6" or so)
4. Cutting Mat
5. Scissors/thread snips
6. Cotton Thread
7. Fabric (we can choose this the day of class, come a little early)

Requirements: Rail Fence pattern: Refer to pattern for information on the fabric yardage requirements. You will need three different fabrics; a light, a medium and a dark. Batting, fabric for backing. Sewing machine Rolling cutter Cutting mat Pins, fabric scissors, cotton thread (40wt or 50 wt) 6 x 24 ruler (one with a 45 degree angle mark) Seam Ripper
