Featherweight Maintenance with Jean Dalton
We are going to have a Featherweight Spa Day!! Come and learn about the ins and outs of your Featherweight with Jean Dalton of The Quilt Patch. Jean Dalton has been buying and cleaning up featherweights for years and will be guiding you through the cleaning and adjusting of your featherweight machine, teaching you how to thread it and load a bobbin as well. You'll be sewing a great seam before you leave class.
First, we will be cleaning the Featherweight Sewing Machine.
You will need to bring to class:
- Your Featherweight machine
- Screwdrivers (small is best)
- An old hand towel to lay the machine on
- A couple of cleaning cloths (flannel or t-shirt rags work well)
- Q-tips and wooden tooth picks
- Tweezers
- A small box lid to hold parts so they don’t get lost
Next we will be Threading and Adjusting your Featherweight .
So bring these things as well:
- Thread
- Sewing machine needles
- Make sure you have a bobbin to wind and your bobbin case
- Scraps of fabric for testing stitches, approximately 8” x 8”
Jean will also have additional parts such as felt pads, needle threaders, bobbins, LED lights, etc available for purchase that day for your Featherweight.
Lunch will be provided, however if you have special dietary needs we encourage that you pack a lunch.
