Tami's Canvas Rugs Class

THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD AT THE HOWARD JOHNSON BALLROOM, LIMA, OH
DESIGN TO BE DETERMINED

Do you find that box store throw rugs always seem to fall short for specific interior space dimensions and that they also notoriously fall apart after a few washings...if they can be machine washed at all?!! The frustration is over! Tami Pfeil will introduce to you the concept of a quilted “floor canvas”. That’s right….we are going to create outside the quilt fabric box and create a mini raw-edge appliqué quilt suitable for under foot! Every holiday season needs some whimsy and these rugged and washable quilts for the floor fit the bill with utility value and grit to outlast their box-store counterparts.

Whether you’re a seasoned quilting veteran, or a sewing newbie, a floor canvas is a terrific smaller-scale project to hone your basic sewing skills when working with heavier canvas fabrics. An “illustrate with thread” technique will also be introduced to embellish and add visual dimension to the appliqué pieces. There will be plenty of canvas related tips and tricks along the way.

The ease and flexibility of a floor canvas will have you creating these “mini quilts for the floor” for the kitchen, bath, hallway, entry, mud room and more. All festive options are based on classic HandBEHG Felts designs and holiday themes - just perfect for your home and gift giving! Maximum finished dimension approximately 33 x 51.

All skill levels welcome.  Confident beginner sewers must have a mastery of their sewing machine including threading, bobbin winding, changing needle, stitch length adjustment and changing out presser feet.  All appliqué pieces must be precut in advance of class. Batting, Home Dec Thread and Iron-on adhesive will be offered for purchase to complete your rug.
