Job Listing - Quilting Goddess

We are looking for a Quilting Goddess (or God) to fill a full time position in our Quilt shop. Our Ideal Quilting Goddess (God) will be well skilled with all (or most) facets of quilting. We need you to know what a 1/4" seam is (and why you want to use a scant 1/4" in reality!), you should be able to do bias and straight binding. We need you to have the math skills to help customers figure out how much fabric for their backing (that's one of the most common questions we get).

You'll need to be comfortable helping customers. We get questions about different techniques, what a pattern is called, and lots of our quilters need help picking fabrics. You should be able to communicate clearly and pleasantly with a wide variety of customer personalities. We get to know most of our regulars by name and pride ourselves in our excellent customer service.

You'll need to be able to use a rotary cutter, lift stacks of bolts with ease, and leap the shop dogs in a single bound (maybe that's a Quilting Superwoman... that would work as well). The Modern Quilting Goddess (God) will have competent computer skills (as our POS is all computer based).

Since we, ourselves, are all Quilting Goddesses here in the shop we need someone who works well with a team (No Drama Llama!). We are a smaller shop, so independent work is also a must (remember, we're looking for a Quilting Goddess (God) the requirements are many and varied).

Not only are we helping customers find the perfect fabrics for their projects, we're also selling BERNINA machines in our shop. Our Perfect Quilting Goddess (God) would already know BERNINA machines, but we are willing to train the otherwise Outstanding Quilting Goddess (God). You will eventually need to be able to help demo machines, explain various functions, and help with machine sales.

We hope to find a Quilting Goddess (God) who is also comfortable developing and teaching classes. This will not be an immediate requirement and there can be help with the first several classes, if necessary.

Lastly, we also run two Longarm machines to finish customer quilts. As a Quilting Goddess (God) you will have the opportunity to learn these machines (and, therefore, reach the pinnacle of Quilting Goddess-hood).

We understand that we are asking for a lot, but we are also willing to offer much in return. We have a competitive hourly rate, flexible management style, somewhat flexible hours (within business and full-time hours), and the opportunity to continue learning and growing. We have a relatively relaxed atmosphere and are family owned (without much of the drama (No Drama Llama!) many family businesses seem to have). It's not all roses and unicorn farts (and work is still a 4 letter word), but we try to have fun while we're here. Our entire team currently consists of 5 people.

Physical Requirements:
This position is primarily standing with walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching
Repetitive use of hands and fingers while operating a keyboard
Lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
